STEP 9 - MAKING YOUR OWN PAINTS

broken image

Kids love to express themselves by coloring things, or by painting. Making your own paints is a great way to get them started and gives them a chance to be involved in creating their own colors.

And because every now and then kids like to sample their craftiness, you’ll be glad to know that this recipe is completely EDIBLE! So if they take a little taste, it’s fine!

EDIBLE ARTISTRY PAINTS RECIPE

• 1 large container Greek Yogurt

• Natural Food Coloring

• Essential Oils of choice

Separate out small portions of Yogurt into small bowls or on plates. Add one drop of Natural Food Coloring to each portion to create your colors, then stir well to completely combine Yogurt and Food Coloring. Next add in your Essential Oils. Because Essential Oils are strong it is best to start out with 1 or 2 drops per portion. If you would like to add more, do so one drop at a time; but since your child may be taste-testing these paints, remember that LESS IS MORE; and stick to using Essential Oils with supplement facts on the label, as such Essential Oils are considered safe to ingest in small amounts.

Once each color is mixed together, your paints are ready to be used. Since these are all natural, they can be used as finger paints as well as for brush work.
